This 14-day safari takes to the best safari destinations in Uganda. From Murchison falls national park with the most powerful falls in Africa, Kibale to trek chimpanzees, Queen Elizabeth for the tree climbing lions, to Bwindi for gorillas, and relax by the shores of Lake Bunyonyi. On this adventure, you will get to stay with local families, getting a close experience on their daily lives. You will also get to participate in some volunteer programs.
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide, who will brief you about the safari. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may get to visit one of the projects around Entebbe supporting young girls.
After breakfast, embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest national park. En route, visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. Enjoy lunch before proceeding to the park. Upon arrival, take a short hike to the top of Murchison Falls to witness the Nile River thundering through a narrow gorge.
Begin the day with an early morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile. Spot lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and various antelope species. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls. The cruise offers great views of hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. For adventure seekers, you can hike to the top of the falls from the base.
After an early breakfast, depart Murchison Falls for Kibale Forest National Park, known as the primate capital of the world. The journey takes about 7-8 hours, with scenic views of the Albertine Rift Valley and traditional homesteads. On arrival, you will visit on the local homes where you will be welcomed. Here, you will get to stay with that family as you learn about the ways of their life.
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. Track the playful chimpanzees in their natural habitat and learn about their behaviour. The trek takes about 2-4 hours. In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-based project rich in birdlife and other wildlife such as monkeys and otters. You will spend the night at the same family as the previous one.
Enjoy breakfast before heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a 3-4 hour drive. Arrive in time for a leisurely lunch and check-in at your lodge. In the evening, embark on a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains to spot elephants, buffaloes, lions, and antelopes.
Start your day with an early morning game drive in the park’s Kasenyi sector. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This is one of the highlights of the park, offering views of hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.
After breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy an en-route game drive to spot the famous tree-climbing lions. Arrive in Bwindi in the late afternoon. In Bwindi, a local family will welcome you into their home offering a slice of the Ugandan hospitality. This will be your home for the 2 nights spent in Bwindi.
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek can take 2-8 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Spend an hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Accommodation is homestay.
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Africa’s most beautiful lakes. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours. Upon arrival, relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Optional activities include a canoe ride, birdwatching, or a visit to the local islands. Later in the evening, you will venture out to be apart of one of the projects that is aiming at bettering the lives of the local people.
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Africa’s most beautiful lakes. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours. Upon arrival, relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Optional activities include a canoe ride, birdwatching, or a visit to the local islands. Later in the evening, you will venture out to be apart of one of the projects that is aiming at bettering the lives of the local people.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park, approximately 5-6 hours away. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Look out for zebras, impalas, elands, and other wildlife. In the evening, enjoy a guided night game drive to spot nocturnal animals.
Start the day with a walking safari, a unique way to experience the park’s wildlife and scenery. After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala, with an en-route stop at the equator for photos and souvenirs.
Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a city tour or shopping in Kampala. Your guide will then transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your safari.
