6-Day Kenya Safari Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Depart Nairobi for Samburu National Reserve.

Karibu Kenya!

A professional safari guide from Laba Africa will pick you up from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or a Nairobi city hotel early this morning. Meet your safari guide and travel for Samburu National Reserve after a briefing on the events ahead. Arrive at your safari lodge on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River for lunch. After lunch, you will have some free time before embarking on your first game-watching drive.

Samburu National Reserve, which covers just 165 square kilometers of mostly desert plains, is nourished by the Ewaso Nyiro river, whose banks are fringed with palm groves and lush riverine forest, and attracts a diverse diversity of animals. Zebra, giraffe, buffalo, waterbuck, elephant, lion, cheetah, and leopard are more prominent during the dry season but can be seen all year.

Day 2: Explore Samburu National Reserve

With morning and afternoon wildlife-watching, we will explore the Samburu nature reserve.  Several distinct Northern species, like Gerenuk, the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, and Oryx, are found in the Samburu region. Many birds live in the trees along the river’s banks, including native species like the Palm Nut Vulture and the Vinaceous Dove.

These woodlands are also home to a large number of Leopards, who are frequently observed at dusk. It is always a rare treat to see one of these magnificent and secretive animals. Lions and cheetahs can also be seen on the riverbanks and on the broad plains. Packs of African Hunting Dogs have been spotted going through the reserve on rare occasions.
