Day 1Transfer to Moroto (Karamoja)

Your Laba Africa Expeditions guide will meet you very early morning and transfer you far Eastern Uganda to Moroto town the capital of Karamoja this is where your 12 Days Karamoja Wildlife and Gorillas will start . Karamajong people are group of semi-nomadic people pastoralist who live in the North Eastern Uganda.
The Karamajongs are known for being fierce the word ‘’Karimoja’’ translates to the ‘’old ones that stayed behind ‘’ in the reference to the times when different tribes migrated to different locations in search of food and water for their animals.
The Karamajongs migrated from Ethiopia and got divided into two different groups the Kalenjins and Masai group of Kenya. Another group called Atekers migrated westwards and later slited into many different groups like the Turkana, Dodoto, Karamojong and Jie of South Sudan.

Day 2Karamoja cultural Experience

This is not a sightseeing tour, but a participatory experience. The traditional Karamoja village tour and home stay possibility are all about sharing the rich cultural heritage of the Karamajong by participating in various domestic activities.
We introduce you into the culture by taking you to the heart of the community and invite you to participate in daily life activities. From preparing local foods to celebrations with traditional folklore, this will be an unforgettable moment during this 12 Days Karamoja Wildlife and Gorillas

Day 3Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park

Transfer to the remote and pristine national park in the country: Kidepo Valley National Park. In the rugged semi-arid valleys in the extreme northeast of Uganda, the park lies hidden away in a corner between Uganda’s borders with South Sudan and Kenya. It is a long but very rewarding journey to get to this region with some of the most beautiful scenery in Uganda. On your arrival to the park you might have time to go on an afternoon game drive in the wild Narus Valley to see herds of elephant and buffalo. You might even spot some lions and leopards perching on the various rocks dotting the valley floor.

Day 4Morning Game drive and Evening Game drive in Kidepo Valley National Park

Today you will have a morning and evening game drive in Kidepo valley Np. Kidepo Valley hosts 475 bird species and over 80 mammal species, among them; lions, ostriches, zebras, bat-eared foxes, aardwolves, caracals, cheetahs, and greater and lesser kudus. Kidepo Valley National Park ranks among Africa’s finest wilderness landscapes and was ranked no. 3 on CNN’s list of the best national parks in Africa.

Day 5Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Today is merely a transportation day en-route to Murchison Falls National Park passing through small villages on the way.

Day 6Morning Game drive and Afternoon Boat Safari in Murchison Falls National Park

On your morning Game drive a professional guide with extensive knowledge of the park and its inhabitants will join you in your vehicle. As this is a private game drive you can ask your guide to tailor your trip towards specific bird life and/or wildlife if you like.
The Park is especially known for its massive elephant population, wide array of bird species and big herds of buffalo. Giraffes, lions, antelope and water bucks can also be spotted here and if you search the trees carefully, you may even spot one of the elusive leopards.
The afternoon boat safari towards Murchison Falls is a special highlight of the day. On this 3-hour journey upstream on the Victoria Nile to the base of the falls you will pass by breathtaking scenery, as well as many crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes, water birds, monkeys and other animals that come down to the Nile for a cool drink in the hot of the day. For humans, cold drinks are for sale onboard.

Day 7Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.

Today you will undertake the journey to green Kibale Forest. The drive is incredibly scenic, passing through tea plantations and the lush green countryside which characterizes so much of Uganda. On arrival at the forest, you will enter a completely different world… some serious monkey business!
Kibale Forest National Park lies just outside the colonial town of Fort Portal and is made up of dense tropical rainforest. This Park is considered one of the big highlights of Uganda due to some serious monkey business going on here. A big number of primates residing can be found here and particularly a visit to one of the habituated chimpanzee groups is a very memorable experience. The rare red colobus as well as the black and white colobus, red tailed monkey, olive baboon, the blue Monkey and l’hoest’s monkeys are also regularly seen here. Where would you find a better spot to experience encounters with nature; smelling the forest and listening to the many sounds. Your safari tent or cottage is surrounded by lush green diversity filled with countless bird species and butterflies its a really amazing time to end your day 7 out of your 12 Days Karamoja Wildlife and Gorillas

Day 8Chimpanzee Trekking and coffee tour

Chimpanzees share 98% of human genes making them our closest living relatives. They are found in 21 countries throughout Africa, but are most easily sighted in Uganda due to their dense populations.
Today, in Uganda, there are approximately 5,000 chimpanzees left in the wild. The Chimpanzee Trekking experience here is done on several well-maintained walking trails. There is also a wonderfully diverse concentration of other primates, more than any other forest in East Africa, in fact. Besides our delightful cousins, the chimpanzees, you can find red colobus, red-tailed guenon, white-nosed monkey, gray-cheeked mangabey, blue monkey, L’Hoest’s monkey, and the black and white colobus monkey. In addition, you may see olive baboons, bush babies and nocturnal pottos.
In the afternoon you will go for a community walk and coffee tour experience.

Day 9Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha (Tree Climbing lions)

Early in the morning after breakfast, drive directly to Bwindi via the ishasha sector were you might see some tree climbing lions. This is the one of the only 2 places in Africa were you can see tree climbing lions. You will also view many animals including; the monkeys, birds, kobs, antelopes etc.

Day 10Meet the gorillas of Bwindi and afternoon Batwa cultural tour.

On this day of your 12 Days Karamoja Wildlife and Gorillas you will have breakfast and after proceed to the park headquarters to have a briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking in Bwindi. The rangers will then accompany you to the rain forest to start your search for the gentle giants. This walk can sometimes be tough and it needs someone so strong. Trekkers are always advised to carry their rain coats and boots because the weather there is always unpredictable.
There are also some potters who always help with the carrying of the luggage on behalf of the visitors but at a small cost. On sighting the gorillas, the rangers will guide you on handle them, especially by giving them a 6 meter distance as you enjoy them play around. It’s always not easy to predict how long gorilla tracking will take and this also depends on the location of some families since some of them are far from the park headquarters. However, it always takes 2 to 8 hours to come into contact with them and the rangers will always be there to guide you. Trackers are also advisable to be physically fit before going for tracking. After your trek, return to your lodge for lunch and afternoon go for Batwa culture experience.

Day 11Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi (One of the most beautiful lakes in Africa)

Today we will take you to another exciting lake Bunyoyi ‘ Lake of many small birds” this stunning location offer some wonderful optional activities. The south-western part of Uganda is known as” Little Switzerland”, a lush, mountainous region dotted with freshwater lakes, which makes it the perfect base for a number of activities beyond gorilla tracking. The area is great for walking, hiking, mountain biking, cultural village tours, bird watching or water sport activities.
