Uganda and Rwanda are known for their rare mountain gorillas in the mist, primates, dramatic landscapes, and friendly locals. On this 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari, Laba Africa will proudly show you some of the best that Rwanda and Uganda have to offer, from meeting the chimpanzees in some of Africa’s oldest forests to hiking one of the Virunga mountains. You will come eye to eye with the rare mountain gorillas in Uganda and enjoy some of the best wildlife encounters in the less crowded Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls National Park.

12 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali Tour to Nyungwe Forest National Park

  • Pick-up at Kigali lodge to go for a city
  • Visit the Genocide Memorial is a place of commemoration for the 250,000 victims buried in mass graves here and an important remembrance of the unfathomable brutality of the 1994
  • The drive through the town of Butare, about 135km from Kigali. Here you can visit Butare National Museum displaying a range of ethnographic objects that will give you an insight into the rich traditional life and culture of the country.
  • At the end of the day you will reach Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of the world’s oldest and most beautiful rainforest in Africa.

Day 2: Nature Walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park

  • Boardering Burundi, The Nyungwe Forest is incredibly biodiverse with 13 known primate species residing here, from colobus monkeys, mangabeys, blue monkeys and, of course, our nearest relatives, the chimpanzees.
  • Go up high into the forest canopy on one of East Africa’s first canopy walks. The network of suspension bridges will lead you on a 1.5 hour walk over a deep gorge, through beautiful and lush vegetation and difference animal habitats.

Day 3: Transfer to Musanze

  • If you think after Nyungwe Forest and Lake Kivu, that Rwanda can’t get any more scenic, you taken the road trip to Musanze, the home to Volcanoes National
  • While the main draw of visiting Volcanoes NP is to see the real gorillas in the mist, there are other fantastic activities to experience here like, tracking excursions to find the rare golden monkeys, volcano hikes and a visit to the Dian Fossey research center.

Day 4: Day Hike in the Mountain Bisoke Volcano

  • Mount Bisoke lies within the borders of Rwanda (Volcanoes National Park) and DR Congo (Virunga National Park). The summitn (3711 m) and greater part of the mountain is in Rwanda
  • Hiking Mount Bisoke is an adventurous and exciting activity which is not restricted to experienced hikers. Hiking up to the summit takes 6 hours while coming down 2 or more depending on one’s speed.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Forest Park - Uganda
