Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Jinja via Sezibwa falls
Depending on your location, our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel or residence on the first day of your 6 day Sipi and Murchison falls safari, brief you on the safari, and then begin the journey to Sezibwa Falls in Mukono. When you arrive at Sezibwa Falls, you will participate in a variety of activities such as hiking to the waterfalls, guided nature walks, and bird watching, where you will be able to see various bird species such as the white browed robin chat, great blue turaco, double tooth barbet, and common bulbul, among others. After the Sezibwa Falls tour, you will have lunch before continuing on to Jinja City for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Source of the Nile boat cruise and transfer to Sipi falls
After breakfast on the second day of the 6 day Sipi and Murchison falls safari, you will be transferred to the source of the Nile for an amazing boat ride on the Nile. While on the cruise, you will see beautiful scenery, water birds such as cormorants, kingfishers, fish eagles, hornbills, and local people fetching water, among other things.
After the boat ride, you will have lunch before continuing on to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa, where you will arrive in the evening. When you arrive, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Sipi falls hike and coffee tour
After breakfast on the third day of the 6 day Sipi and Murchison falls safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go on the Sipi Falls hike. The hike always begins with a briefing from the local guide. Following the briefing, you will be given a walking stick to aid you in your hike to the three waterfalls, which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours depending on your physical fitness. Each waterfall offers a distinct and memorable experience, and the hike includes breathtaking views of Mt Elgon’s slopes, the Karamoja plains, Lake Kyoga, and a relaxing stop at a small cave.
After returning from the exhilarating hike, have lunch at the lodge before going on a coffee tour. On the coffee tour, you will meet local farmers and visit their plantations to learn about the life cycle of Arabic coffee, visit the processing plant to learn how to remove husks from green beans, learn about the art of roasting coffee, and end the tour with a cup of coffee. Following the coffee tour, you will return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 4: Depart for Murchison Falls National Park
Check out of the lodge and meet your driver to depart from Sipi Falls to Murchison Falls National Park, stopping for lunch in Lira en route. Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest park, home to over 76 mammal species, primates, birds, and other wildlife. After finishing your lunch in Lira, proceed to the park, where you will arrive in the evening and check into your lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight rest.
Day 5: Morning game drive with a boat cruise later in the afternoon
Enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge before meeting your driver for an early morning game drive in Uganda’s largest and oldest national park, where you will be able to spot hunter, nocturnal mammals, and plenty of bird life. Elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kob, warthogs, antelopes, leopards, Topis, warthogs, bush bucks, and many more are among the mammals seen during an early morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, as are several species of birds.
After the game drive, return to your lodge for lunch before embarking on an afternoon Nile boat cruise from Para upstream to the base of the waterfall. During the boat ride, keep an eye out for any mammals that are seen quenching their thirst, as well as any aquatic birds. Head back to the previous lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Departure back to Kampala – Rhino tracking en-route.
This last day will greatly depend on your flight details for international visitors. You will wake up for breakfast at your lodge on day 6 of your 6 day Sipi and Murchison falls safari tour, then check out of the lodge to meet your safari driver and embark on a journey to Masindi to trek the endangered white rhinos in Ziwa rhino sanctuary.
This trek takes about 2-3 hours. Later, leave the sanctuary and travel to Masindi for lunch before continuing on to Kampala, Uganda’s capital city, where you will arrive in the evening. Proceed to your hotel for an overnight stay or to Entebbe International Airport for your flight. This will mark the end of your 6 day Sipi and Murchison falls safari.
