6 Days Kenya safari detailed itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli

At the start of your 6 Days Kenya safari, depart Nairobi at approximately 08:00 Hours and drive south to Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli is located in the Loitoktok District, Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The ecosystem is primarily savannah grassland spread across the Kenya-Tanzania border. It is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants and other wildlife species including lions, cheetahs, zebras, and wildebeest. You will have opportunities to meet the Maasai people and take in and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Relax after lunch and then go on a late afternoon game drive, returning to camp at dusk.

Main Destination:

Amboseli National Park

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

After breakfast at the Lodge, you will depart the camp with picnic lunch in hand and explore the Amboseli ecosystem even further. Enjoy a full day game drive in the land of elephants.

Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, Amboseli is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here, including the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulfur springs, the savanna and woodlands. You can also visit with and experience the culture of the local Masai people, who live around the park.

The Lake Nakuru ecosystem consists of the lake and the surrounding wooded and bushy grasslands. The park supports a robust variety of wildlife, with flamingos (greater and lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino, lions, buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

You will drive past the rift valley escarpment before turning west and stopping at the Masai town of Narok. Continue towards the Masai Mara, arriving with lunch enroute ready for evening game drive.

This is probably one of Kenya’s most visited reserves. It features an extraordinary density of animals, including the “big five” and many other varieties of plains game. The Mara River cuts through the Mara and Serengeti ecosystems, giving life to both reserves before finally pouring out into Lake Victoria.

Most impressive is the wildebeest, zebra and gazelle migration from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) to the Masai Mara (in Kenya). This journey is marked by numerous obstacles, which makes it even more magnificent. Return to the Camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
