10 Days Rwanda wildlife Safari detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali / Kigali City tour
Arrive at Kigali Airport on the first day, where you will be met by our guide. He will take you on a Kigali City tour, where you will visit genocide memorial sites, markets, and interact with the indigenous and very welcoming Rwandan people. He will then drive you to your hotel, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe forest via Butare
On the second day of your safari, you will wake up early, be served breakfast, and later meet your guide, who will drive you from Kigali to Butare, which takes about 2 hours. You will visit the Rwanda National Museum while in Butare. Following your visit to the museum, you will be driven to Nyungwe Forest, where you will check-in, have dinner, and stay overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking at Nyungwe forest
After an early breakfast, you will depart with your guide into the forest for the chimp tracking activity. A chimp trekking trip in Nyungwe lasts about 2 to 7 hours, with one hour of close contact with chimps in their natural habitat. After you’ve finished trekking the chimps, meet your driver. Return to the lodge for lunch before relaxing at the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Guided Nature walk in Nyungwe Forest
Get up early, eat breakfast, and then go on a guided nature walk in Nyungwe forest. During these nature walks, you will get a close-up look at various wildlife species such as birds, primates, plants, and many more. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation and have a nature walk. Head back to the lodge for dinner and relaxation plus overnight stay.
Day 5: Visit Bugarama Hot springs & Lake Kivu
Wake up early on this day because you will be served early breakfast and then be transferred to Bugarama Hot Springs by your guide. Following your visit to Bugarama Hot Springs, you will take a boat ride down the Rusizi River before continuing on to Kibuye for dinner and night stay there.
Day 6: Kibuye - Gisenyi (Lake Kivu)
On this day of your Rwanda Safari, you can either relax at your hotel or spend the day on the shores of Lake Kivu, allowing you to recover from safari exhaustion. You will be transferred to Gisenyi later in the day.
Day 7: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On this day wake up in the morning, you will be served with breakfast and after meet your safari guide, later proceed to Volcanoes national park which Rwanda’s primate Capital and Gorilla haven. Have your meals and early sleep as you prepare for next day’s great adventure.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda
You’ll get up early, eat breakfast, and then head to the park headquarters for a routine briefing on gorilla trekking in Rwanda.
You will be assigned to a gorilla family to trek with. Your gorilla tour begins when you enter the forest on a gorilla trail and meet the gorillas, which takes between 2 and 8 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement.
You can go on a nature walk at Volcanoes National Park later in the afternoon. After that, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Golden Monkey Tracking
Get up early in the morning because breakfast will be served at the lodge. After that, you’ll go in search of the Golden Monkey Park National des Volcans. Following your golden monkey trek, you will pay a visit to Diane Fossey’s grave. You will then be driven to the Twin Lakes, Lake Ruhondo and Lake Burera. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 10: Depart from Ruhondo to Kigali
On this day you will wake up, have breakfast and later your guide will drive around the lakes and visit the Musangabo viewing point. Afterwards he will drive you to Kigali to catch your flight.
