This 3 Days Mikumi National Park Safari begins and concludes in Dar es Salaam. Mikumi is Tanzania’s most visited national park due to its proximity to Dar es Salaam. Mikumi is situated to the north of the Selous Game Reserve. Dar is only over 300 kilometers away. If you pick this schedule, you will have a lovely experience seeing the many creatures that are available after traveling a few kilometers from the city.
Mikumi National Park in Tanzania is the nearest wildlife safari area to both the capital of Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar Island. If you are in Zanzibar, we may organize a ferry trip to Dar es Salaam or a short flight based on your preferences and budget. This safari may be completed by staying at cheap / middle-class hotels or tented camps.
It is worth noting that the distance between Dar es Salaam and Mikumi National Park is long, with the drive taking between 5 and 6 hours depending on traffic as you leave Dar es Salaam, as well as the number of police checks along the way, which can take up a lot of your time. There appear to be far too many speed limit signs on the road, with 50 km/hr stretch being the most conspicuous. On this route, speed guns might slow you down.
Day 1: Pickup from Dar es Salaam and Transfer to Mikumi National Park- Afternoon Game Drive.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Drive Back to Mikumi National Park.
On the first day of your safari, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Dar es Salaam or the airport and driven to Mikumi National Park via the Dar es Salaam – Morogoro route. The park is located between the Uluguru Mountains of the Ancient Eastern Arc Mountains to the east and the Great Rift Valley Escarpments to the west.
The drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi takes around 4 – 4.5 hours and is not far from Dar es Salaam. You will arrive at midday and immediately proceed on a game drive in the park, followed by a picnic lunch at a picnic spot. We drive to your Camp or lodge for dinner and overnight later in the afternoon.
Have breakfast at your lodge or camp and then head out with your driver guide to explore the wondrous beauty of Mikumi national park. Enjoy a full day game-viewing in Mikumi National Park with a packed lunch, or do morning and afternoon game-viewing with a lunch break at the lodge/tented camp. Mikumi National Park, along with the Selous Game Reserve, is part of the wider Selous Ecosystem and is home to a diverse range of bird and animal species.
Giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, impalas, warthogs, zebras, wildebeests, elands, and many more antelopes may all be seen in Mikumi national park. Apart from the saddle-bill stork, hammer kop and malachite kingfisher, you will also find monitor lizard and a deadly python inhabiting the pools. Aside from wildlife drives, you may also embark on a guided walking safari with an armed ranger. Outside the park, spend the night at Camp or Lodge in the park. Lunch and dinner are provided.
On your last day, you will enjoy early breakfast at your lodge or camp. You will get to enjoy one last game drive as you exit the park and head back to Dar es Salaam. This morning game drive gives you a chance to search for any wildlife animals that you might have missed seeing during your previous game drives in the park. You will have lunch on your way back to Dar es Salaam where you will be dropped off at a hotel of your choice or airport.
