10 days Safari to Tanzania Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro and transfer to Arusha

When you arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport (or Arusha), our guide will greet you and take you to the lodge. If you have the time, enthusiasm, and energy, you can take a guided tour of the city. You could also unwind at the hotel. The lodge provides dinner and overnight accommodations.

Day 2: Arusha Nature Walk

After breakfast, a beautiful day of safari awaits us in Arusha National Park, one of the most beautiful wildlife refuges in the country with a diverse landscape. The park is teeming with life forms. You can see buffalo herds (the most common species in the park), zebras, and giraffes, as well as warthogs, water antelopes, dik-diks, and reduncas. Other mammals in the area that are difficult to approach include aardvarks, bush pigs, and crested porcupines. The low screeching call of the silver cheeked hornbill, like the rhythmic harsh cry of the endangered black and white colobus, regularly breaks the silence.

You will have the opportunity, accompanied by a ranger, to immerse yourself in the pristine nature of the park by taking a walk during which numerous animals, such as giraffes and buffaloes, can be seen. All of this, of course, in complete safety. We will leave early in the morning for the park and return to the lodge by evening. At the park, a packed lunch will be served. The lodge provides dinner and overnight accommodations.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, we depart for a fascinating game drive to Tarangire National Park. The swaying sylvan savannah, dotted with majestic baobabs, many of which are over 2,000 years old, is home to northern Tanzania’s largest elephant population. And watching the animals is incredible when the dust blows across the dry plains. During the dry season, the park has the highest density of wildlife on the continent.

Day 4: Transfer to Manyara National Park

After breakfast, the safari continues with a tour of Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most biodiverse parks. You will find five different ecosystems here, despite the fact that it only covers 330 square kilometers, 230 of which are occupied by the lake. The park is home to over 380 different bird species as well as many animals such as elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, leopards, lions, baboons, hippos, antelopes, warthogs, and many others.

Day 5: Go to the mighty Ngorongoro Crater

On this day of your 10 days Safari to Tanzania, we will travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of the world’s most famous safari destinations, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978 and an International Biosphere Reserve in 1981. The Ngorongoro Crater (the permit for game drives inside the Crater is valid for up to 6 hours) is the area of greatest interest; located at 2,200 meters above sea level, it is the world’s largest uninterrupted caldera and one of Africa’s natural wonders, with approximately 30,000 large mammals living there all year round, including buffaloes, lions, elephants, cheetahs, and rhinos, as well as several bird varieties including flamingos.

10 days Safari to TanzaniaLake Magadi, with its shallow waters that almost dry up during the dry season, occupies the center of the crater and is the best spot from which to observe flocks of flamingos and crowned cranes, as well as plenty of herbivores, especially wildebeests and zebras who drink here, attracting the presence of lions and hyenas.

We leave early in the morning for the park, then travel to the Serengeti in the afternoon. At the park, a packed lunch will be served. The lodge provides dinner and overnight accommodations.

Day 6: Visit Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we visit the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s oldest and largest park, covering an area of 14,763 square kilometers, hence its Masai name, Siringet, which means “Plain without borders.” Endless plains await you, as does the great migration of herbivores, particularly wildebeests and zebras, as well as herds of lions and other predators such as hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, jackals, and crocodiles. We leave early in the morning for the park and return by 18:00. At the park, a packed lunch will be served. Dinner and overnight stay at the tented camp.

Day 7: A full day with The Serengeti's Flora and Fauna

On day 7 of this 10 days Safari to Tanzania, we continue our journey by visiting the spectacular Serengeti National Park. The boundless prairies are occasionally interrupted by bizarre granite formations; the kopjes, among whose cracks often form small pools of rainwater, attracting many small animals, but also large predators such as lions, who love to lie on them or hideaway waiting for a possible prey to pass by.

10 days Safari to TanzaniaThere are many trails along the rivers where you can see crocodiles, hippos, and many other animals that come to drink, including leopards, which frequently bask in the branches of the umbrella acacias that grow here. In the evening, we travel to Karatu. The Lodge provides dinner and overnight accommodations.

Day 8: Move to Lake Eyasi for an adventure.

On the eighth day of this wonderful 10 days Safari to Tanzania, we will visit Lake Eyasi, which is located south-east of the Ngorongoro highlands. The Hadzabe-bushmen, the last heirs of a civilization that knows nothing about agriculture, cattle breeding, ceramics, or metallurgy, live in the surrounding region.

They make a living by hunting with bows and arrows and gathering berries and wild fruits. They are the last descendants of the homines-sapientes who lived along the Rift Valley some 200,000 years ago. They have lived in small wandering groups of about twenty people for millennia, and their way of life has remained unchanged. Meeting them is a fascinating experience.

You can join them on an early-morning hunting trip to experience an ancient way of life for a few hours. This is a genuine and one-of-a-kind experience, not a tourist trap. The Datogas are polygamous breeders from the Horn of Africa who came to the region with their herds in search of pastures.

Then we’ll go to a village and a blacksmith’s workshop where they make everyday objects using ancient techniques, such as jewelry and arrowheads for the nearby Hadzabe, who pay for them with animal skins and wild honey. Only a small percentage of safari visitors in Tanzania visit this region, but those who do are ecstatic.

Packed lunch will be served at the park. We return to Arusha in the evening. Dinner and overnight accommodation at the lodge

Day 9: Visit Kilimanjaro National Park.

Kilimanjaro National Park is famous for Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain and one of the world’s highest volcanoes, with a perennial glacier on top.

The park’s main entrance is the Marangu Gate, which is located at an elevation of 1870m. This is the lowest part of the plateau, accessible by jeep, and offers stunning views of the Great Rift Valley and Mount Meru. We then hike to the “Roof of Africa,” a lush rainforest dominated by tall trees that is home to a variety of animals such as buffaloes, baboons, guenons, leopards, and antelopes, as well as numerous birds such as abbot’s starlings, which are extremely rare outside of this area.

You can also visit the nearby and picturesque lake Chala, which is located in a caldera on Mount Kilimanjaro’s eastern border and has shades ranging from turquoise to emerald green depending on the season.

Day 10: Farewell to Arusha and return home

The final day of your 10 days Safari to Tanzania will also be well organized, allowing you to say your goodbyes to Arusha and take a tour of its famous market, where you can shop. After your final trip to Arusha, you will be escorted to the airport to return home, confident that you will have brought with you an unforgettable experience and many beautiful memories. This will mark the end of your 10 days Safari to Tanzania.
