The trip starts from Juba, the capital of the world’s youngest country, to the Mundari tribe, crossing to one of Africa’s most remote National parks, Kidepo Valley, for a safari before heading to another exciting remote Karimojong tribe of Uganda.

10 days South Sudan and Uganda Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Juba

Welcome to South Sudan, the world’s newest country. Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by our knowledgeable driver guide, who will provide an overview of the upcoming journey. You will then be transferred to a comfortable hotel in Juba City, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 2: Journey to Mundari

After an early breakfast, you set out on a journey to the Mundari tribe capital in Terekeka. The drive takes approximately 1 to 3 hours, enjoying the breathtaking and remote South Sudanese countryside. Upon reaching Mundari in the evening, you can set up tents, enjoy a delightful dinner, and settle in for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Exploring the Mundari Cattle Camp

After a satisfying breakfast, venture into the heart of the Mundari community and experience their unique cattle-rearing traditions. The Mundari people are renowned for their warm hospitality, and you’ll engage in cultural exchanges while capturing remarkable photographs. Indulge in local delicacies if you choose, and as the day transitions to evening, witness the sunset and smoke over the cattle camps.

Day 4: Return to Juba

Today marks your return journey to Juba town, a 1 to 4-h our drive that offers you the chance to relish the captivating scenery of South Sudan’s countryside. The drive is an extraordinary experience, providing insight into South Sudan culture.

Day 5: Crossing into Uganda - Gulu

The following breakfast comes a new adventure as you travel towards Gulu in Uganda. This leg of the journey includes crossing the South Sudan-Uganda border, taking you into the “Pearl of Africa.” Arriving in Gulu City in the evening, you’ll check in at your lodge, have dinner, and enjoy a restful overnight stay.

Day 6: Kidepo Valley National Park, Game Drive.

After your morning breakfast, we shall drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. On this drive, we shall go through the remote Acholi villages before entering the national park, where we shall pass by several herds of wild animals grazing in the lush savannah plains of Northern Uganda. We check-in at the hotel/lodge to relax and enjoy our first Kidepo lunch. After lunch, we shall go for a game drive in the vast Kidepo Valley National Park plains. You can see several kinds of animals and birds, such as Giraffes, Zebra, Uganda Kobs, cheetahs, leopards and buffaloes. Along the Nurus Valley, you might spot lions resting on top of big rocks as they relax and enjoy their day.

Day 7: Game Drive and Afternoon Guided Nature Walk in Kidepo Valley National Park 

On this 7-day of our 10 days tour in South Sudan and Uganda, we will go for a game drive to the Kanangorok hot springs and pass via the Kidepo River valley, which is lined with palm trees. Along the way, we will look out for leopards, Tortoises and ostriches, among the other plentiful birds and animals. After having your packed lunch, we will stretch our legs on a guided nature walk through the park. On this guided nature walk, we will be accompanied by experienced rangers who will give all the information about animals, birds, their habits and how they can track their movements. This guided nature walk is an excellent opportunity to see wild animals up close and personal in their habitat- away from the vehicle’s shield.

Day 8: Transfer to Moroto

After breakfast, drive to Moroto for Authentic Culture & Untamed Adventure Tours in Northeastern Uganda. Decades of isolation and conflict made the Karamoja subregion of Northeastern Uganda unthinkable as a destination. Now the region is peaceful and brimming with many cultures and adventures.

Day 9: Karimojong Cultural tour 

The tour starts with a nature walk in the morning to experience traditional Karimojong life in the village. You can combine it with a night with Karimojong Warrior Nomads Experience well-known Karimojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with former Karimojong Warrior Nomads and, nowadays, passionate cattle herders in the Kraal. Help bring the cows to the kraal, milking the cow, herding, learn how to identify local greens, experience traditions such as spearing a cow for blood to drink and eat roasted and get your own Karimojong name.

Day 10: Transfer to Entebbe airport.
