Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

  • Pick-up at Hotel Kampala.
  • Your 4-day journey will begin with a drive to the smallest savannah national park in the country: Lake Mburo National Park.
  • The drive to Western Uganda is quite long (around 5 hours) but rewarding, with ever-changing landscapes, busy roadside markets, and quiet rural villages.
  • Lake Mburo National Park is best known for its herds of zebras and walking safaris. One of its most remarkable features is the lake full of hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife.
  • Night at Mihingo Lodge, Full-board.
  • Your accommodation will add to your safari experience as you will spend your nights in the heart of the National park. This is the real African bush and you will need to be escorted by a ranger when you leave your room after nightfall. There is nothing quite as exciting as your first night falling asleep to the sound of active wildlife around you.

Day 2: Game Drive & Transfer to Bwindi Forest NP

  • Private game drive; tailored towards specific birdlife and/or wildlife interests.
  • Lake Mburo National Park is well known for its massive zebra population, wide array of bird species, and big herds of buffalo. Giraffes, antelopes, and mongooses are often spotted here. If you search the trees carefully, you may even spot one of the elusive leopards.
  • Transfer to Bwindi forest National Park.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest N.P

  • Half of the world’s population of gorillas live under the mist-covered canopies of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforest.
  • Your gorilla trekking experience will be an exciting yet challenging journey along forested (often muddy and slippery) slopes, tangled vines, thick vegetation, and bamboo forests and could take from 2 to 7 hours.
  • Once a family of gorillas has been located, settle into your surroundings and enjoy the hour you have to quietly observe these fascinating primates, whose habits and mannerisms remind us so much of our own.
  • Encountering the mountain gorillas in the wild is a truly humbling and emotional experience, one that you are sure to remember for the rest of your life.

Day 4: To Lake Bunyonyi

  • Bunyonyi means ‘lake of many little birds’. This beautiful lake, surrounded by steep terraced hillsides, contains 29 islands, many of which are inhabited.
  • Here you can fill your time swimming, hiking, bird watching, and taking boat rides to any of the islands on the lake. Lake Bunyoni is bilharzia, croc and hippo free so you can relax and enjoy its cool waters.

Day 5: To Ishasha sector Queen Elizabeth N.P

  • No In the Ishasha sectorof the park you can see the famous tree-climbing lions. Some tracks in the park pass through large mating grounds of great herds of Uganda kob. The big number of different bird species makes this park a must for birders visiting Uganda
  • An evenning game drive in the Ishasha region will reward you with a life time memorable experience of encountering these Lions resting on the tree branches as well as sights of other animals such as the tree climbing leopards.

Day 6: To Kasenyi Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (around 3 hours).
  • Queen Elizabeth N.P. is Uganda’s most visited game reserve and arguably the most scenic. The national park protects the vast savannah plains, bushland, wetlands and forests that lie at the base of the Rwenzori mountain range.
  • Kazinga Channel, which flows through the park and connects Lake George in the east to Lake Edward in the west, attracts a rich array of animals and birds, including the infamous Nile crocodile and one of the world’s largest concentration of hippos.

Day 7: Game Drive & Boat Safari

  • Another fasciniting game drive in the morning; few reserves in the world have such a high biodiversity with landscapes including savannah, bushland, wetlands and lush forests.
  • Boat safari along the Kazinga Channel : you will see a lot of hippos more than you can imagine as well as a variety of other animals which come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can expect to see: Buffalo, Crocodile, bathing Elephant, and a range of beautiful birds.

Day 8: To Lake Nkuruba – Kibale N.P

  • Your journey to Kibale Forest and Lake Nkuruba areas will be your most scenic on this tour (around 3 hours). The drive will take you through tea plantations, lively village markets and over rolling hills of lush green countryside that is so characteristic of western Uganda.
  • The various ecosystems in this space are reputed to harbor the highest density of primates in all of Africa. The rare red colobus monkey as well as the black and white colobus are just some of the primates you may encounter on your forest walks here.
  • Lake Nkuruba Nature reserve, Bed& Breakfast.

Day 9: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

  • No other animal reminds us so much of ourselves as the chimpanzee. Besides many common features and mannerisms, chimpanzees also share 98% of our human DNA, making them our closest living relatives.
  • Experience in Kibale Forest you will have the opportunity to follow an experienced guide into the forest to observe these fascinating creatures at a close range. Watching them interact with each other and go about their daily routine of grooming, playing and foraging is an incredible experience.
  • Community Tour in the afternoon for an interesting and inclusive visit of the community and its different crafts. An authentic immersion in the Ugandan rural daily life.

Day 10: To Murchison Falls National Park

  • The journey shall continue with one of the oldest conservation areas in the country: Murchison Falls National Park
  • The drive to Northern Uganda is quiet long (around 6 hours) but rewarding, with ever-changing landscapes, busy roadside markets and quiet rural villages.
  • Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s best-known and biggest nature reserve. Its most memorable feature is the Victoria Nile which cuts through the park, running along a series of rapids before shooting out of a narrow crack in an incredibly powerful waterfall.
  • Night at Hornbill Murchison Lodge, Bed& Breakfast.

Days 11 and 12: Murchison Falls National Park

  • The next two days will be for private game drives; tailored towards specific birdlife and/or wildlife interests
  • Murchison Falls National Park is especially known for its massive elephant population, wide array of bird species and big herds of buffalo. Giraffes, lions, antelope and waterbucks can also be spotted here and if you search the trees carefully, you may even spot one of the elusive leopards.
  • 1 afternoon boat safari towards Murchison Falls is a special highlight of the day. On this 3-hour journey upstream on the Victoria Nile to the base of the falls you will pass by breathtaking scenery, as well as many crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes, water birds, monkeys and other animals that come down to the Nile for a cool drink in the hot of the day.
  • Night at Hornbill Murchison Lodge, Bed& Breakfast.

Day 13: To Ziwa Rhino Sactuary.

  • Todays jouney shall lead you to Ziwa rhino sanctuary the only place where you can see rhinos in the wild. The journey from murchison falls N.P to Ziwa takes about 3 hours.
  • Rhino trekking in the evenning and an optional shoebill stork ( at your own cost )
  • Night at Ziwa rhino sanctuary lodge. Bed& Breakfast.

Day 14: Transfer to Entebbe.

  • You will set off early today to make the long drive back to Entebbe Airport or Kampala with a lot of wonderful memories.
