7 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife safari itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Lodge for relaxation and overnight

Tanzania, welcome! Your driver will greet you when you arrive at the International Airport. You both drive in the direction of Moshi (about 60 minutes’ drive from Kilimanjaro Airport). You are already expected at the Lodge of your choice, which is located in a quiet area near the small town’s centre of Moshi.

After you’ve checked in, the rest of the day is yours to spend exploring the property or relaxing by the pool. Dinner will be served at the lodge but can also be arranged elsewhere if necessary.

Day 2: Transfer from Moshi to Lake Manyara Park

The second day of your safari begins around 8 a.m. Our guide will meet you at the Lodge in Moshi. You will begin the 4 – 5-hour drive to Lake Manyara National Park, which is 200 kilometres long. Following your arrival and a brief lunch break, you will embark on your first game drive through Lake Manyara National Park with our guide. Soon after entering the national park, you will notice lush forests of acacia and mahogany trees. Keep your camera handy in the coming hours and keep an eye out for giraffes, buffalos, impalas, baboons, and other monkey species.

7 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife safariYou may also come across the climbing lions that live here, though they are very shy. Lake Manyara is truly one-of-a-kind. It provides an incredible natural spectacle, especially during the rainy seasons (April/May and November/ or December), when the lake’s shores turn pink due to the thousands of flamingos. In the evening, you will head to your chosen accommodation where a delicious dinner awaits you to fuel you for the next day!

Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park.

Your day starts early with a hearty breakfast. You will then travel together to one of the world’s most famous national parks, the Serengeti National Park.

You will pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is divided into two regions: “highlands” and “plains.” The landscape gradually changes from dense, foggy rainforests in the highlands to very dry and dusty plains for the majority of your journey. You have the option of visiting Massai villages or the Olduvai Gorge. The Olduvai Gorge is a well-known evolutionary research site as well as an important archaeological site.

7 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife safariAfter about 3 hours of driving, you will arrive at Serengeti National Park. You will see a variety of animals both on the way there and during your first game drive in the Serengeti. You will have dinner and a well-deserved night’s rest after arriving at your chosen accommodation (Seronera Camp or Thorn Tree Camp Lodge) in the evening.

Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti National Park:

This day of your 7 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife safari will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your safari. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll set off on your adventure a little earlier than usual. Today, you will see the Serengeti in all its splendour on a full-day game drive!

Serengeti means endless stretches of nature and wildlife that stretch as far as the eye can see. At the very least, you will be aware of the size of Serengeti National Park, which covers only a portion of the Serengeti’s total area. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since the early 1980s and spans over 14,000 square kilometres.

7 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife safariThe Serengeti is one of the most complex and intact ecosystems in Africa. As a result, you can expect to see countless plant species, such as the iconic umbrella acacias, as well as millions of mammals, such as zebras, elephants, and antelopes. The “Big 5” can also be found in the Serengeti (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard). You will return to Seronera Camp or Thorn Tree Camp Lodge in the evening for a delicious dinner.

Day 5: Transfer from Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. For the last time, you will be able to gaze out at the Serengeti. You will drive down into the crater with our guide shortly after arriving in Ngorongoro National Park.

Ngorongoro is the world’s largest inactive volcanic crater with an intact ecosystem. The collapse of a former volcanic mountain formed the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater has a massive bottom of approximately 264 square kilometers (roughly three times the size of Paris) and a depth of more than 600 meters.

During the crater floor ride, you will see the breath-taking variety of Africa’s wilderness once more. African elephants, buffalos, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, lions, and dozens of other species are all waiting for you.

Following that, you will proceed to your chosen lodging (Mto wa Mbu Camping or Karatu Simba Lodge), where a delicious dinner awaits you!

Day 6: Move to Tarangire, then later to Moshi.

After breakfast, this day of your 7 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife safari will begin with a game drive. Our guide will take you to Tarangire National Park today. Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania’s most well-known national parks, particularly for its diverse flora and fauna. Various vegetation zones can be found on the nearly 3,000 square kilometres. Tarangire National Park also has the second largest population of wild animals after the Serengeti. The numerous elephant herds are a highlight. As a result, the chances of seeing these graceful animals in the wild are very high.

The Tarangire National Park is named after the Tarangire River, which runs through the park and is used as a source of water by a variety of animals including giraffes, elephants, antelopes, and lions. After a leisurely dinner, you will continue to Moshi and return to the booked Lodge, where you will spend your final night.

Day 7: Transfer from Moshi back to the Airport, then back Home

On the last day of your 7 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife safari, You will check out of the lodge after a good night’s sleep and finishing breakfast. If you have additional activities planned, you can continue your personal travel itinerary accordingly. Alternatively, your driver will transport you from Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport and you will fly home. Take a few quiet minutes to reflect on your experiences, whether on the way back or onward! This will mark the end of your 7 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife safari.
