15 Days Uganda and Rwanda tour Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick-up and city tour of Kampala
Your 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda tour will begin with a pick-up from the airport by your guide, who will greet you and brief you on your itinerary. Following the briefing, you will travel to Kampala for a city tour to experience the city’s beauty and culture.
In the company of your guide, you will visit various locations around Kampala such as the Gadhafi mosque, Bahai temple, Kings Palace in Mengo, and get a taste of Ugandan cuisine at a restaurant in the city. After the city tour and dinner, you will be driven to your lodge, where you will spend the night at the Sheraton.
Day 2: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park
On day 2 of your 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda tour, check out and continue your drive out of town to Murchison Falls National Park, which is known for its thunderous waterfalls, which are a major attraction in the park. The national park is also well-known for being home to four of the big five, including elephants, buffalos, lions, and leopards.
You will make a stopover at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see the rhinos. During your stopover, you will also have lunch before heading to Murchison Falls National Park. You will then return to Bakers Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise.
Breakfast will be served at your lodge as you prepare to go on a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. During your game drive, you will see elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffalos, lions, hartebeest, Uganda kobs, and waterbucks, among other wildlife. After your morning game drive, you will return to your lodge for lunch.
Afternoon boat cruise: Enjoy views of the Murchison Falls as well as different wildlife and bird species such as king fishers, cormorants, pelicans, hippos, and Nile crocodiles in the water on an afternoon boat cruise along the Victoria Nile. You’ll also enjoy hiking to the top of the falls, where you can see the rest of the national park. As you prepare for dinner and an overnight stay at Bakers Lodge, your guide will meet you and drive you there.
Day 4: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park and evening game drive
On day 4 of your 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda tour, you will have breakfast early in the morning as you prepare to drive to Kampala, where you will continue your journey to your next destination, Lake Mburo National Park. You will make a photo stop at the equator as well as a visit to the craft shops.
You will travel to Lake Mburo National Park for an evening game drive to see wildlife species such as zebras, antelopes, warthogs, and buffalos, among others. Your guide will then drive you to Mihingo Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Breakfast will be served at your lodge in Lake Mburo national park before you check out and continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park, which is located in the south western part of Uganda and is known for tree-climbing lions, which can be seen in the ishasha sector.
Visit the crater lakes: After checking in at your lodge, you will proceed to the crater lakes in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will enjoy the beautiful views and take photos. Your guide will drive you back to Kyambura Gorge Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Morning game drive and a boat cruise.
On the sixth day of your 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda tour, you will have breakfast at your lodge before departing for a morning game drive in the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park around the Kisenyi area, where you will see wildlife species such as antelopes, buffalos, elephants, oribi, and waterbucks, among others.
In the afternoon, you will take a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel, where you will see elephants, buffalos, and hippos in the distant plains, as well as various bird species along the lake shores. You will return to Kyambura Gorge Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Experience lion tracking and drive to Bwindi National Park
You will have breakfast at your lodge before embarking on a lion tracking adventure early in the morning. You will enjoy seeing the tree climbing lions in the ishasha sector during your lion experience. Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park: Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where you will check-in at your lodge and prepare for dinner and overnight at Buhoma Lodge.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking in Buhoma sector of Bwindi
This day is the highlight of you 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda tour. You will have an early breakfast at your lodge as you prepare for your gorilla trekking activity in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Your guide will transport you to the park headquarters, where you will be briefed on the gorilla trekking experience. You will travel into the forest with your ranger guide in search of gorillas in their natural habitat. You will spend 2 to 8 hours in the forest looking for gorillas.
You will also see various primates among the trees, such as black and white colobus monkeys and vervet monkeys, as well as a variety of bird species. Your guide will drive you back to Buhoma Lodge, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
You will have breakfast at your lodge in Bwindi National Park early in the morning before your transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s second deepest lake, located in the south western part of Uganda. As you make your way to the lake for a boat ride, you will be treated to views of the terraced hills.
You will also enjoy hearing stories about one of the lake’s many islands, which is known as the punishment island. You can spend the rest of the evening relaxing while you wait for your dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Bird Nest Lodge.
Day 10: Drive to Ruhengeri and visit the community
On this day of your 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda tour, breakfast will be served at your lodge as you prepare to cross the Cyanika border into Rwanda. Your guide will transport you to Volcanoes National Park, where you will check-in at your lodge and enjoy your lunch.
Community visit: Following lunch, you will go on a community visit to Iby’iwacu village, where you will interact with the locals and learn more about Banyarwanda culture and way of life.
You will enjoy watching the intore dances and participating in them during the cultural dance performances. After the community visit, your guide will drive you back to your lodge as you prepare for dinner and an overnight stay at 5 Volcanoes Gorilla Lodge.
Day 11: Trekking with golden monkeys and transfer to Lake Kivu
Golden monkey trekking: Your day will begin early in the morning with breakfast served at your lodge, followed by a drive to the park headquarters for a briefing on the golden monkey trekking activity.
You will explore the forest with your ranger guide in search of golden monkeys. You’ll also get to see primates like vervet monkeys and red-tailed monkeys.
You will also spend about 2 to 5 hours in the forest, taking photos and observing the golden monkeys’ behavior. You will return to the briefing point, where your guide will be waiting to drive you to Lake Kivu, your next destination. You will eat lunch before proceeding to the lake to take in the breath-taking views and to visit the neighboring towns. Dinner and overnight will be at the Serena Lodge on Lake Kivu.
Day 12: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park: After breakfast at your hotel, you will depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will eat lunch on the way to the national park, which is famous for its canopy walk as well as being one of Africa’s oldest and largest rain forests. You will check into your lodge while you wait for your dinner and to spend the night at Nyungwe Forest Hotel.
Day 13: Chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk
Chimpanzee trekking: Your day will begin with breakfast at your lodge, followed by chimp trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park. After receiving a briefing from the park headquarters, you will proceed into the forest in search of the chimps that you will see playing in the trees. You will spend approximately one hour with the chimps before returning to the briefing point to meet your guide for the drive to your lodge for lunch.
Canopy walk: Following lunch, you will go on a canopy walk through Nyungwe forest, crossing a suspended bridge over the trees. You will enjoy seeing the beautiful scenery before being driven back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Hotel.
Day 14: Transfer to Kigali and city tour
Transfer to Kigali: After breakfast, check out of your lodge and prepare for your drive back to Kigali city, where you will enjoy visiting various places such as the Kimironko market, genocide memorial centers, Rwanda national museum, and various craft shops to enjoy seeing the beautiful arts and crafts of the locals. After your city tour in Kigali, you will have lunch and spend the night at the Des Mille Collines hotel.
Day 15: Departure
Departure: On the final day of your 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda Tour, you will have breakfast before driving to the airport, where you will be dropped off by your guide, effectively ending your 15 Days Uganda and Rwanda Tour
