The chimp trekking will be in Nyungwe Forest National park which is home to these amazing primates in Rwanda. More to the primates, there will be amazing game drives in Akagera National Park, with a boat cruise and more exciting adventures will be awaiting.

6 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee and wildlife safari Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Kigali City Tour
On the first day of your safari, you will arrive at Kigali International Airport, where a representative from our company will meet you for a safari briefing. After that, check into your hotel in Kigali and enjoy your lunch.
After lunch, meet the driver for an evening Kigali city tour where you will explore and visit various places before meeting the Iby’Iwacu for an evening of breathtaking entertainment before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Wake up early in the morning and have breakfast at the lodge, after embark on your journey to Nyungwe forest national park a home to various primate species including Chimps. You will have an enroute lunch and proceed your journey to arrive in the evening for check in, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest& Canopy walk
After an early morning breakfast at the lodge, meet with your driver and embark on the journey to the park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts while trekking chimpanzees in the wild. A chimp trekking trip in Nyungwe lasts about 2 to 7 hours, with one hour of close contact with chimps in their natural habitat. After you’ve finished trekking the chimps, meet your driver and return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, take an afternoon canopy walk through Nyungwe forest, where you will see more primates such as monkeys and chimps. A canopy walk is located 50 meters above ground level and provides a stunning view of the surrounding volcanoes as well as the park in which it is located. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight after the canopy walk.
Day 4: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your journey to Akagera National Park, which takes approximately 7-8 hours. You will have lunch on the way to the lodge and arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight accommodations at the lodge.
Day 5: Morning game drive & afternoon boat cruise
Rise early, eat breakfast, and then meet your guide for a game drive in Akagera National Park. You will see elephants, lions, zebras, buffaloes, and many other species of mammals during your game drive in Akagera National Park. You will also be able to observe various bird species, butterflies, amphibians, and the park’s green vegetation. The game drive lasts 5-6 hours before returning to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, take a boat cruise on Lake Ihema in the afternoon. A view of the lake’s shores provides a clear view of many of the animals that live along its shores, including elephants, buffaloes, and water birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay after the game drive.
Day 6: Return to Kigali for Departure
This is your last day of your 6 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee and wildlife safari. After a hearty breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet your driver to begin the journey back to Kigali. When you arrive in Kigali, have lunch and tour the city, visiting genocide memorial sites and markets before heading to the airport for your next destination. This will mark the end of your 6 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee and wildlife safari.
