Your exhilarating 2 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour begins with a convenient and comfortable pick-up from your hotel in the bustling capital city of Kigali. You’ll be greeted by your knowledgeable and friendly guide who will accompany you on your journey ahead.
After the pick-up, you’ll embark on a tour of Kigali, the vibrant heart of Rwanda. The city tour takes you through its bustling streets, historical landmarks, and contemporary attractions. A poignant and essential stop during this excursion is the Genocide Memorial, where you’ll delve deep into Rwanda’s complex history, learning about the tragic events that unfolded in 1994. This solemn experience will give you a profound understanding of the resilience and progress that has since defined the nation.
Following the city tour, you’ll embark on a scenic 2.5-hour drive from Kigali to the breathtaking Volcanoes National Park, a journey filled with panoramic vistas and glimpses of rural Rwandan life. Upon reaching the entrance of Volcanoes National Park, you’ll proceed to the park headquarters, to undergo registration.
To immerse yourself even further in the local culture and traditions of Rwanda, you will have a visit to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. Here, you’ll interact with the indigenous Batwa, Tutsi, and Hutu, gaining insight into their customs, dances, and way of life.

With an expert park ranger and a small group, embark on a gorilla trek into the forest. The duration varies, from one to four hours, depending on the gorilla family’s location. The highlight of your journey is a one-hour, awe-inspiring encounter with a gorilla family, witnessing their daily life in their natural habitat.
After the encounter, you’ll trek back to the park headquarters, reflecting on your unique experience. Enjoy a post-trek lunch at a nearby lodge, sharing stories with fellow trekkers. Depart from Volcanoes National Park, relishing the scenic journey back to Kigali. – Rwanda Gorilla trekking permits cost $1500 you will need to obtain the permits in advance, which can be purchased through Laba Africa. However, Rwanda Development Board gives a 30% ($1050) discount on gorilla permits if you are to visit other parks in Rwanda during November and May
– The best time to visit Rwanda is during the dry seasons of December to February and June to September, offering comfortable weather and better accessibility to the gorillas. However, during this season there are high visitor numbers hence you will experience a hike in the prices of amenities and services.
– It’s essential to be physically fit and have suitable trekking gear for the expedition. Pack essentials like water, snacks, hiking shoes, and a rain jacket. A small fee can be paid to porters to help you carry luggage during the trek hence reducing the burden.
