8 Days Rwanda Wildlife Primate Tour Overview

This safari will start and end in Kigali Rwanda’s capital city, starting a visit to Akagera National park renowned as home to the iconic Big Five like buffalos, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and lions, and many other species like bushbucks, topis, Oribis, waterbuck, roan antelope, duiker, impala, Klipspringer, world largest antelope, and around 500 bird species. The park also boasts with stunning landscape and lots of different animals in a short amount of time, located in the Eastern part of Rwanda and sits on an area of about 2500 square kilometers of low land, approximately 2 hours drive from Kigali to access the park, you will take a visit to Kigali city tour one of the African cleanest countries.

 Go visit Nyungwe National Park in southwestern Rwanda, which covers an area that estimates to be about 1,019 square kilometers of rainforest, bamboo, grassland, swamp, and bogs. Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park

At the start of this 8 Days Rwanda Wildlife Primate Tour transfer to Akagera national park. Depending on your point of location in Kigali, our safari driver guide will meet you and take you through a short briefing about 8 Days Rwanda Wildlife Primate Tour. After being transferred to Akagera National park which can last a 2 to 3-hour drive via the scenic landscapes of Rwanda. Arrive at Akagera National Park and have early lunch. Day 2: Morning game drive and return to Kigali

Morning Game Drive: Early in the morning after breakfast, you will drive to a Northern circuit game drive to search for early risers and all that call Akagera their permanent home animals like lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, antelopes and hundreds of bird species among others.

After the game drive, you will drive out of the park connecting back to Kigali. Arrive at the hotel in Kigali, have lunch, and rest. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

Kigali City Tour: Wake up and have an early breakfast, after departing for a city tour in one of the cleanest and safest cities in Africa to explore a bucket of fabulous attractions. You can go visit the genocide museum, cultural encounter with Rwandan traditional dances, visit the national museum where you will be able to encounter the displayed historical things of Rwanda, and visit the craft shops time taken depends on your preference, interests, and budget. Then after the city tour, you will transfer to Nyungwe National Park with en-route lunch.

Canopy Walk: Proceed to the park and upon your arrival connect to the canopy walk before the night falls. You will enjoy an exhilarating experience done on the suspended bridge 70meter high above the great Nyungwe forest national park, amazing guided walk that takes on a 160-meter long walkway with a gainful view of different features of thick green forest, beautiful birds hovering around, insect among others.  What to wear on your day of canopy walk include comfortable.

Your safari driver will drive you to the park headquarter for a briefing about the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee tracking. After you will be accompanied by a park ranger guide on forest trails heads in search of chimpanzees An activity which can take about 3 to 5 hours to look for them. Once you find them, spend an hour observing them as they play, feed, groom themselves, and take video and memorable photography.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking is the highlight of your 8 Days Rwanda Wildlife Primate Tour. Transfer to the park headquarters in Kiningi for a briefing about gorilla trekking from the park ranger –guide, you will be grouped in a group of 8 people by park rangers who will escort you to the forest trailheads. But remember to carry gorilla trekking essentials like drinking water, comfortable rubber hiking shoes, rain jackets, a waterproof bag to help you keep your documents, walking sticks, and warm clothes among others. This activity can take between 30 to 7 hours depending on the movement of the assigned gorilla family group.

The moment you find the gorillas, one hour is given to you to experience the amazing human cousins  that share 98% of human DNA. In that hour you will enjoy how these chimpanzee play, feed, hunt, and to survive in the forests, enjoy your picnic lunch as well as enjoy photography and video capturing.
