The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is an ancient rain forest that stretches across a series of steep ridges in the Virunga Volcanoes mountain range. This park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its ecological uniqueness and natural beauty, and it is home to roughly half of the world’s total mountain gorilla population. The park is located in southern Uganda, on the rift valley’s edge. It is one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rain forest, dating back more than 25,000 years and home to nearly 400 plant species. More famously, the park protects 440 mountain gorillas, or half of the population, including habituated groups that can be tracked.
The area is also home to 120 mammals, including primates such as baboons and chimps, as well as elephants and antelopes. Coffee was discovered in the wild in 9th century in Ethiopia and took centuries to spread. Herbalists in Yemen began using it as a stomach upset remedy in the 12th century. It arrived in the 16th century in the United Kingdom, the 17th century in America, and Uganda in 1900.
The English were more culturally connected to tea, and the Empire needed ways to fund itself, so they introduced Ugandans to tea drinking, whereas coffee was solely for making money. How to Get to Bwindi for your Coffee Tour
Driving from Kampala to Bwindi is approximately 500 kilometers long and takes up to 8 hours. Drones, cars, and tour buses are commonly used. The journey is also determined by the trailhead you choose, such as Kampala – Ruhija, Kampala – Ntungamo – Rukungir – Kihihi – Buhoma/Nyondo, or Kampala – Kabale – Kisoro – Rushanga/Nkuringo.
Flights are usually organized on a daily basis at Entebbe International Airport, and the flight from Entebbe to a nearby airfields takes about an hour to Kihihi town, which connects to the Bwindi area. Tourists who are already in Kampala can fly from Kajansi Airstrip as it is also closer to Entebbe International Airport.

Gorilla trekking:
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the best places in the world to see endangered mountain gorillas. As a tourist, you must purchase a gorilla permit in advance in order to meet with the gorillas. In Uganda, the minimum age for tracking gorillas is 15 years old. Gorilla trekking is mostly done in four main regions of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Ruhija, Buhoma, Nkuringo, and Rushaga.
Buhoma is the most well-known sector of Bwindi Forest, and it was the first to be established for gorilla trekking under the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Birding:
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park’s ancient rain forest is home to over 350 bird species, including 23 Albertine rift endemics. The blue headed sunbird, red headed blue bill, white tailed blue fly catchers, African Emerald cuckoo, shinning African blue, are among the bird species.
Tourists on a gorilla trek have the opportunity to see these various bird species as they sing in the rain forest and search for gorillas.
