8 Days Epic Kenya Safari Tour Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Airport Pickup, Transfer to Masai Mara, & Afternoon Game Drive

We specialize in making great first impressions, and what better way to make a great first impression than to be on time for your airport pick up? The rest is easy, a scenic five-hour drive to Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is a nod to the majesty of Kenya safaris, as it is teeming with wildlife and diverse habitats. The beautiful wetlands are alive and well, as are the woodlands, savannas, and grasslands.

Your arrival is as grand as it can be; we check into one of the park’s most elegant lodges, enjoy a delicious lunch overlooking spectacular Amboseli, and relax for an hour or two on the first day of your 8 Days Epic Kenya Safari Tour. Later, your guide will pick you up for an evening game drive. The Amboseli National Park is home to over 1000 elephants, the continent’s largest population to date. Your game drive serves as a reminder of this impressive detail; these 6,000kg creatures are a more common sight than you might think.

8 Days Epic Kenya Safari TourThere are other amazing sights to enjoy, such as distant views of Kilimanjaro and the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli. Our game drive concludes with an epic sundowner, which is optional.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drives in Amboseli National Park with Packed Lunch

Sensuality is the name of the game for this Amboseli morning game drive, with the sunrise golden and gorgeous and wildlife teeming and exceptionally active. We arrive at the park at first light, which, as previously stated, is when the wildlife is most active. There are more than 56 wildlife species to discover, including the Big Five, hippos, zebras, wild dogs, giraffes, wildebeests, elands, jackals, impalas, and others. Mt. Kilimanjaro is also particularly beautiful at this time of year, providing an excellent backdrop for wildlife viewing.

8 Days Epic Kenya Safari TourWe take a break from the game drive at noon by picnicking in a shady spot in the park. Our game drive will resume in an hour. While not as rewarding in terms of wildlife as morning game drives, afternoon game drives are just as appealing. We make our way to the observation hill, which offers 360-degree views of Amboseli and its surroundings.  Below the hill is a lake where hundreds of animals congregate to escape the hot afternoon sun, so keep your eyes peeled! The game drive spans till evening and with evening comes a more active wildlife population. We stick around till sunset because there’s something genuinely poetic about dusk in the Amboseli.

Day 3: Transfer from Amboseli to Naivasha & Afternoon Relaxation

This morning of your 8 Days Epic Kenya Safari Tour, Amboseli offers luxury, priestliness, and spectacular views. Topping it all off is a 7-hour road trip from Amboseli to Naivasha that begins at 8 a.m. We make a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley View Point so you can take photos and enjoy the scenery. We expect to arrive in Naivasha around 3 p.m., where we will check you into your lodge and leave you alone for the rest of the day.

Day 4: Hell’s Gate National Park, Cycling & Horse Wildlife Safari at Sanctuary Farm

Hell’s Gate National Park is situated to the south of Lake Naivasha. It is a standout attraction that combines spectacular scenery with tranquil ambiances to create a destination ideal for your 8-day epic Kenya safari tour. We’re halfway through our bike riding ride by 9 a.m., an adventure that will take us past stunning towering cliffs, water-filled gorges, rock towers, and scrubby volcanoes. On a lucky day, you may encounter wildebeests, African buffaloes, zebras, elands, baboons, reedbucks, antelopes, and gazelles.

8 Days Epic Kenya Safari TourWe leave the park after the cycling experience to go to the hotel, eat lunch, and relax for a while. Failure to visit the Sanctuary Farm while in Naivasha, as Julia Roberts notes in Pretty Women, is a “Mistake.” “Huge Error.” It incorporates everything you can do in Naivasha during your 8 Days Epic Kenya Safari tour, including viewing animals, biking, horseback riding, and more. The attraction is located on the lake and allows visitors to view wildlife such as zebras, wildebeests, antelopes, waterbucks, and birds while riding a horse.

Day 5: Mt. Longonot Half-Day Trip

To be honest, the unfit will probably struggle a little when hiking Mt. Longonot, but what awaits is a world of surreal scenery that you won’t believe. It only takes us two hours to hike from the park’s entrance to the mountain’s crater rim, and the effort is well worth it. The world opens up once you reach the crater rim; acres upon acres of lush forests, breath-taking views of the Great Rift Valley, the ambience, you name it!

It takes 5 hours to reach Longonot’s crater rim and return. Mount Longonot is 2,776 meters tall. Though there is wildlife in the park, sightings are not guaranteed. However, if you’re lucky, you might see leopards, hartebeests, zebras, buffaloes, and giraffes. We should be back in the hotel by 1 p.m. for lunch and a nap in the afternoon.

Day 6: Transfer from Naivasha to Masai Mara & Afternoon Game Drive

On the day 6 of our 8 Days Epic Kenya Safari Tour, the beauty and splendor of Naivasha take center stage. The day begins with a sumptuous sunrise breakfast on the lake’s deck. It gets even better when we check you out of your lodge and drive you to the Masai Mara for a 5-hour road trip. Masai Mara, located somewhere south of Kenya along the Great Rift Valley, is a park so surreal that it appears on almost all of our Kenya safari itineraries. We check you into your lodge shortly after your arrival, serve you lunch, leave you to relax for an hour or two, and then pick you up for an afternoon game drive later that evening.

Afternoon game drives combine the splendor of nature’s wonders with the peace of the evening to create an exhilarating experience for all. Those looking for a good time will appreciate the influx of wildlife brought in by the mild temperatures. Expect to see the Big 5, as well as wildebeests, zebras, hippos, giraffes, dik-dik, antelopes, and crocodiles. As the sun sets, enjoy a glass of champagne while watching the breath taking ordeal unfold from the comfort of your Land cruiser.

Day 7: Full-day Safari in Masai Mara with Packed Lunch

Masai Mara at sunrise is an experience devoid of words, designed to pique the interests of nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. From our Land cruiser, we admire its beauty. The tranquillity, the slowed movement of wildlife, the melodious birds singing, the silent yet profound rustling of acacia trees, etc. Keep your eyes peeled and see how many of the 90 different mammal species you can spot; it could be your lucky day! At noon, we reconnect with nature by eating a picnic lunch in the park’s heart. Following that, we continue with the afternoon game drive.

Wielder beast migration photoThere are afternoon game drives, and then there’s this one, which takes game drives to a whole new level. Although it is more difficult to see wildlife in the afternoon (animals are either sleeping or hiding from the hot sun), Masai Mara afternoon game drives are far from boring. We shift our focus to the Mara River, where hundreds of people gather to quench their thirst. Crocodiles pounce on antelopes is the type of action to expect here, as well as elephants who love mud, wildebeests, gazelles, zebras, and antelopes. Evening game drives are particularly appealing. This time, we’re obsessed with the sunset, and it’s a beauty. We return to camp before it gets dark.

Day 8: Early morning game drive, Maasai village visit, and transfer to Nairobi

On the last day of your 8 Days Epic Kenya Safari Tour, we check out of the hotel, then go on a morning game drive in Masai Mara until 10 a.m. before heading to a Maasai village. Maasai Villages are one of those places that will blow your mind. Here, you’ll find women who dance as if their lives depended on it and elders who are so determined to show off their talents that it’s admirable.

Learn how to make a fire by rubbing sticks on the ground. Admire their vibrant artwork and help them by purchasing souvenirs. Learn the Masai jumping dance, Adamu. After an hour, we say our goodbyes to the locals and begin the six-hour drive back to Nairobi for our flight back home. This will mark the end of your 8 Days Epic Kenya Safari Tour.
