12 Day Kenya Wildlife and Beach self-drive safari

 Day 1 Karibu Kenya

Karibu Kenya (Welcome to Kenya). On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport, you will be received by a representative from Laba Africa. A short drive takes you to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Experience the busy life of the East Africa’s biggest city on this 12 Day Kenya Wildlife and Beach self-drive safari.

Drive: 25km | 1-2 hours

Day 2: Transfer to Amboseli national park

Begin your Car rent African Self-Drive safari adventure with getting acquitted with your safari vehicle. A few driving tips from the locals will come in handy when dealing with Nairobi traffic and driving style. Have a late start(9am) to avoid the morning city rush. The Nairobi-Mombasa road can be challenging, so take your time.

Day 3 : Explore Amboseli National Park

Explore the Amboseli National park on this 12 Day Kenya Wildlife and Beach self-drive safari. The diversity of marshlands and savanna plains coupled with theatrical views of Mount Kilimanjaro create fascinating landscapes in Amboseli national park. This medium sized park’s ecosystem supports a cast range of wildlife. Vast herds of elephants, wildebeests, gazelles and zebras are easily spotted roaming the open savanna plains. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas can be seen with the help of an African Safari  expert guide. Enjoy a picnic lunch for a memorable experience.

Day 4: Transfer to Tsavo West National Park.

In the wake of your adventure in Amboseli, depart for Tsavo West national park. Due to the seasonal roads (Consult your lodge/rangers), you can either take the C103 to Tsavo West or A104 highway. Although Tsavo West National park is an enormous park, the main attractions are the triangle of Tsavo gate, Andei gate and Chyulu gate.

Day 5; Explore Tsavo West National Park

It doesn’t get better than this. This is the epitome of wild. Tsavo West is characterized by hills, craters, caves, and rivers meeting volcanoes remnants. The park is rocky, bushy, scrubby and a wild. A week wouldn’t be enough for you to get your fill. Explore for amazing wildlife encounters. Wildlife include; black rhinos, elephants, hippos, buffalo, lions, leopards. Giraffes and herds of antelopes. We recommend you take an expert guide for a good safari experience.

Day 6: Transfer to Tsavo East National park.

Like Tsavo West, Tsavo East is a true wilderness. Dusty plains, scrubby bushes and rocky outcrops lay the foundation for amazing wildlife safaris. The vast open lands create an profound sense of space. The drive is scenic

Drive from West to East today and cross into the second wildest and largest park of Kenya – Tsavo East. Like the West, Tsavo East is also a wilderness, full of scrubby bushes, dusty plains, rocky outcrops and lots of wildlife! It gives you an overwhelming sense of space.

Day 7: Explore Tsavo East national park

A day in Tsavo East offers amazing game viewing opportunities. The Galana river bringing forth the Lugard falls is home to hippos and crocodiles and is yet a life line to the other wildlife in the park. The big herds of elephants, coming to quench their thirst is a regular sighting. The Mudanda rock overlooks a watering hole and a hike offers spectacular views of the wildlife. More so, leopards are a regular sighting here. The drive is slow due to the nature of the roads. Spare plenty of time to reach the gate.

Day 8: To the Beach

12 Day Kenya Wildlife and Beach self-drive safariWe depart the wilderness, the plain savanna, the sounds and smells for the pristine beaches of Malindi. The road leading away from Sala gate is rough, making it slow. However, the sea food resturants, the white beaches of Watamu and the smell of sea water awaits you.

Day 9 : Explore Malindi

Every safari needs a recovery time. A time to unwind and contemplate on the adventures taken so far. In Malindi, you have the day for that. Take a stroll along the beautiful beaches, explore the cherished relics from the exploration of Vasco da Gama. Sip a glass of wine in the afternoon sun or take a dip in the Indian Ocean.

Day 10: Malindi

See more of Watamu. Spice up your tour with nature walk to the Arabuko Sokoke forest. Here, the golden-rumped elephant shrew shrives. Check out the crawlies at the Bio-ken snake farm and lab. Here, an expert will take you around and show you the snakes in the facility.

Day 11 Enjoy: Watamu

With thriving beach life, Watamu is an ultimate stopover for self-drive tourists. The budet friendly accommodation, activities and sights offer memorable experiences on your self-drive safari. Go snorkeling, fishing, swimming or diving in the ocean. Watch as the Watamu turtle watch rescues turtles.

Day 12: Transfer to Malindi

Drive back to Malindi where you will meet our driver at the airport. Hand in the safari car and catch a local flight to your next destination.
