Safari Overview

This 3 Days Amboseli National Park Safari is a popular option. Amboseli National Park is one of Africa’s must-see sites. For good reason: here is the scene of the iconic African photograph of a big herd of elephants wandering in front of Mt Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summits. While elephants are the major draw, there is also lots of other species.

The park’s wide topography allows for easy observation, and the center wetlands make it an ideal birding destination. Amboseli National Park is frequently included in a longer Kenyan safari that includes multiple parks and reserves, although it is also a viable location for a short vacation. The park’s compact size makes it simple to explore on a three-day journey.

A Brief Background on Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli National Park, about a four-hour drive (240 km or 150 miles) southeast of Nairobi, is widely renowned for its herds of large tusked elephants. A beautiful park in its own right, Amboseli is known for two things: majestic herds of elephants and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Amboseli National Park, Kenya’s second most popular national park after the Masai Mara National Reserve, was designated a UNESCO-Mab Biosphere Reserve in 1991. During severe rains, the park’s central basin floods, drawing swarms of species. The reserve is a fantastic spot to see the Big Five as well as lesser-known and rarer animal species.

When is the best time to visit Amboseli National Park?

The best time to visit Amboseli National Park depends on a few underlying factors. During the dry season, several wildlife gather around water holes to tap into the lightly scarce water. However, as the rain seasons arrive, they disperse due to the numerous water access points.  The temperatures at Amboseli Park are ordinary and mild all year.

3 Days Amboseli National Park SafariAlthough the temperatures are reasonable throughout the year, we recommend that you bring light jackets and a fleece for early activities such as game drives, as well as evening or night activities. During the rainy season, you should carry a raincoat and a poncho to mitigate the effects of rain when participating in activities. Because there are few or no rains during the dry season, it is practically the greatest time of year to visit Amboseli National Park.  From July through October, the dry season is in effect.

The rains subside around the end of June, ushering in the dry season, and a few showers appear as the end of October approaches. During the dry seasons, it is relatively easy to locate wildlife because the grasses have been shot and scotched as a result of the dry spell. The dry season also causes several water holes to dry, leaving only a few that attract wildlife from various parts of the park to come to drink water in the few remaining oases. The dry season also provides less precipitation, thus there are less insects, such as mosquitoes, to disturb one’s stay.

What animals will I see during my safari to Amboseli National Park?

Amboseli National Park in Kenya is the country’s second most popular wildlife park, behind Masai Mara National Reserve. This location is easily accessible by road and air from Nairobi. The Amboseli National area is home to vast herds of elephants, who may be seen strolling about the area. During the dry season, they enjoy playing beside Lake Amboseli. The Amboseli national park animal species include lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes, popularly known as the African big five. The park is perfect for game viewing due to the size of the animals and their habitats.

3 Days Amboseli National Park SafariThe park’s numerous environments have produced fertile ground for the many animal species that live there. The aquatic animals that reside in Amboseli Lake constitute only a small percentage of the park’s population. Other habitats include savannah grassland, forest, and marsh. The Amboseli National Park is home to around 40 distinct antelope species. These creatures have also been observed migrating in great numbers. Other animals in the park include wildebeests, zebras, foxes, giraffes, and hyenas.

The savannah allows you to watch animals without being obstructed by the park’s dense foliage. This is particularly advantageous for bird watching because birds can easily fly over the savannah.
