Safari Overview

This 7 days Rwenzori hike will start in Kampala and you will go to Kasese and then proceed to Nyakalengija to start the hike on Mount Rwenzori following the bujuku trail for five days and after the hike you will return to Kampala.

7 days Rwenzori Hike Itinerary

Day 1; pick up and drive to Kasese

You will be picked up from Kampala and after a short briefing, your guide will drive you to Kasese where you will spend the first night of the safari.

Day 2; Nyakalengija camp to Nyabitaba camp

After breakfast early at the hotel in Kasese, your guide will drive you to Nyakalengija to begin the hike on Mount Rwenzori. You will hike from Nyakalengija camp to Nyabitaba camp which takes about 6 to 7 hours.

Day 3; Nyabitaba camp to John Matte camp

From Nyabitaba camp you will start the hike early morning and proceed to John Matte camp while enjoying views along the way of forests, moss covered rock, giant heather and lobelia and also see Mount Stanley and Mount Speke. The hike on this day will take about 7 to 8 hours.

Day 4; John Matte to Bujuku camp

You will hike from John Matte camp to Bujuku camp on this day which takes 4 to 5 hours and view Mount Speke and Mount Baker and also see giant lobelias, tussocks, Bujuku lake and spend the night at Bujuku camp.

Day 5; Bujuku camp to Mount Speke to John Matte camp

Your hike will start from Bujuku camp to Mount Speke on this day which will take about 4 to 5 hours through the Stullmans pass to Victorio Emanuele peak. You will descend to Bujuku camp after this experience and view the Bujuku valley and Bujuku lake as well as the Margherita peak and the Albert peak then continue to John are camp which will take about 3 to 4 hours.

Day 6; John matte to Nyakalengija camp and transfer to Kasese

After breakfast at John Matte camp you will descend to Nyabitaba camp and trek to Nyakalengija camp which will take about 7 to 8 hours. Your guide will drive you to Kasese where you will spend the night.

Day 7; drive to Kampala

After breakfast at the hotel in Kasese you will start the journey back to Kampala with a stop for lunch and you will be dropped off in Kampala which will bring the tour to an end.
